Today was Leo's last day. We are going to miss him a lot in Pot of Gold!

Leo left with a signed Tshirt and hat, thanks to the kind and thoughtful people we have in our class. Have an amazing time Leo! 

Life Ed

We were lucky enough to visit Tim in the life ed bus. We learnt lots about our body, staying healthy and how awesome it is that we are all unique!!! 

And of course we got to hang out with Harold!! :)

Bird beak challenge

We started Term 4 with an interesting science experiment. We looked at the idea of bird beaks and how species can die out if they are unable to eat enough food. When the environment changed, so did our results!! 

Lots of amazing predictions were made! 

Money on ya mind

Money on ya mind was our unit in term 3. Pot of gold got the chance to enter the senior syndicate Market Day. It was the most exciting market Pot Of Gold had. We sold lots of products - most people sold out. We had to think about the profit that we made.

Wearable Junk

The Conservation Club put on a stunning evening to raise money for Wild Base. There were some amazing costumes!

Congratulations wearable junk creators and all those involved in organising the stunning event!

Basketball Finals

Throughout the term we have had lots of Pot of Gold kids playing basketball. They are amazing!
College street had lots of teams in the finals and they all played really well.

Badminton Festival

We have been really lucky to have had Badminton coaching throughout the year. We have improved so much and had heaps of fun!

In weeks 9 and 10 we went to the B & M centre for a Badminton Festival. We played heaps of games and watched some pro's play too!

Speed writing

Speed writing is becoming a favourite time in Pot of Gold. Every Monday we write for 15 minutes after lunch about anything we want. We love sharing our writing with the class.

Reading Task: Summarising

Money is the hot topic in Pot of Gold at the moment. As part of our reading priorities this week we are summarising part of the website below.

Solar System Scale

On the 30th of June, Pot of Gold have been learning the scale of the solar system. This photo shows you the planets that we made out of play dough by guessing.

 Our 2nd attempt, we used maths to get and accurate result with our planets. We have inferred that the planets are much smaller than the king on the throne, Jupiter! We were split into 9 groups and built our planets.(Including Pluto a dwarf planet). Our 3rd attempt was when we combined all the Jupiters together, all the Saturns together and so on. We then got a spectacular result as shown in the photo below

Science in P.o.G

We are asking questions about how craters are formed. For example, do bigger meteorites make bigger craters. We are carrying out experiments and thinking like scientists!

In pot of gold we have been starting to make a new inquiry that has something we need to do to help the nz be a better place. For some examples stop wasting power or stop smoking.We start planing then research but after that we have to analyse all our information one big paragraph so as soon as we do that we have to communicate and that means tell every one your ideas using media like iMovie,graphic design and lots of other ways to tell a message.That is what pot of gold is doing .

Matariki notes

In pot of gold we have been taking notes about matariki.matariki is a Maori new year.taking notes is writing down what people say and in videos.you take notes to find more about what the video is trying to tell you what it means.

Cross Country writing

I could here the ground crunch under my muddy shoes as I sprinted down the hill. The feeling of my wet shoes made me tingle all over. I could see the finish line 100 meters ahead of me.

The smell of fresh hotdogs met my nose. The taste of bitter fresh mud stained air came to me. That was when IT happened. It was like I was in a photo! I suddenly heard my mum & the other mums cheering for me. The birds stopped chirping, the trees stopped swaying in the slight breeze. I was at the end.

Did you know Guy Haydon got shot near the spine and got surgery to have it removed and sent it along with a letter to his family.

Koru Art

Pot of gold have been doing Koru art and this is one of the examples. Don't you think these photos are really outstanding? Each Koru represents one family member.

These colours represent something about that family member. For an example the red could be there favourite colour and brown could be for the garden. For the background you draw with vivid because it stands out.
