Camp 2016 - Sixtus Lodge

Last week, First Five enjoyed the amazing opportunities available at Sixtus Lodge camp.  We tramped, fished, cooked, rode, cleaned, and generally challenged ourselves for three days.  Highlights included the magnificent glow-worms which twinkled like stars in the damp cave, the horse riding, and the stories of the eels that just slipped out of our hands.  We also enjoyed developing our teamwork skills as we helped each other over the challenge course, in the kitchen, and through cleaning duties. We all arrived home tired, happy, and excited about the thought of going on camp again next year.

Triathlon

Ready, set, go!  The whistle blew. We ran for our lives.  We sounded like a herd of elephants thundering across the field through the drizzling rain.  The school triathlon - the greatest test of all-round sporting ability had begun.

Last Wednesday, we all participated in the fast-paced school triathlon. First came the run around the block or field, then we cycled twice around the wet field, and finally we completed two lengths of the shallow school pool.  We all crossed the line feeling relieved, excited, happy, amazed, exhausted, and proud. We can't wait to try the CSNS tri again next year.

Change

We are having a go at jigsaw learning this afternoon. We are looking at horse evolution, bird bills, worms, scientists tools and changes in NZ. We will then share our learning with people that didn't go to our learning station.
Leaning is buzzing!
